After I reading the article, it make me thinking of ancient China.
In ancient China, gender roles were already separated. Men did the farm work outside and women did the housework. At that time, China was a standard agricultural country; men are the main labors in agricultural society. Many reasons caused the social status of men and women. Before women got married, they should stay at home and learn to do housework. They couldn’t go out of their home until they got married.
However, at that time men could have more than one wife. More wives shows a man was powerful and successful. Another reason is that some women couldn’t give birth to boys, so men would marry with a new woman. Every family likes men, because men are labors. More men can do more farm work and get more food.
But recent 50 years, China is changing many things. People go out of the feudal ideas. Women also can do things like men. Women go to school, learn knowledge and get education. Women are proving that they are not lacking, they can do better than men.
Men and women are equal, everyone has right to do what he want to do.
