Sublime our hearts (Lei Gao)

Volunteering to others is a way or process of sublimation of our lives. The article "why I volunteer" is about the reasons for different people to help the people from other countries, including refugee families. There are five examples provided in the article, which are in order to show different people's attitudes toward volunteering. All of the attitudes are positive. Absolutely, I agree with such pure spiritual attitudes.

What the volunteering actions bring us are inspiration and satisfaction. When we are doing vulunteer, we can learn things that are more than what mentioned in the books, such as cultural and religious differences, human right, poverty ant etc. For instance, when you are helping people from other countries, you can learn other cultures, and figure out the different ways of life. All those inspire you to think deeply about your own life. For another reason, you are inspired by your compassion to help refugee families. Because you see how hard they live, you know why you should help them.

The common characteristic of volunteers is that they are satisfied by helping others. Firstly, the experience of vulunteering make them happy. They are satisfied with the learning cultures, thinking about poverty and suffering. That is a process of understanding the society. Secondly, they are satisfied with doing volunteering. They have warm hearts, enjoy the spare time with refugee families, children.

It is easy to do volunteering. We can plan and try! As the article mentions, we can just drive some children to their destinations, or help them with adapting to American life. In another way, those simple actions sublime our hearts easily!

When we are doing ,we can affect others! The last part of the article said that their children are learning to help some foreign children. That's because their parents influence them. We can imagine that we do volunteering; our classmates will be influenced. Let us sublime our hearts together!
