Bibliography of research paper (Susan Chen)

Topic: The conflict between parents and children
1.Yamada, Hiroyuki. "Japanese Children's Reasoning about Conflicts with Parents. (Report)." Social Development 18.4 (2009): 962+. Academic OneFile. Web. 8 Nov. 2009. .

This report is a statistic date shows the reasoning about parent-child conflicts. The author used the type of interview to examine the reason. Results suggest that children do not simply act upon their cultural values but also show resistance to parental authority for reasons beyond meeting selfish needs and form differentiated judgments about parent-child conflicts

In my research paper, I can use the statistics as evidence, showing the reasons of the parent-child conflicts. I will use the statistics and the interview in my last part where I will explain the reasons.

2.Morton, Lindsay C., and Patrick M. Markey. "Goal agreement and relationship quality among college students and their parents." Personality and Individual Differences 47.8 (2009): 912+. Academic OneFile. Web. 8 Nov. 2009. .

This article shows that the link between goal agreement and perceived conflict within the relationship between college students and their parents. College students tended to place more importance on independence, affect control, health, social relationships, and financial concern goals than their parents did, whereas parents placed more importance on moral and religious goals than their emerging adult children did.

In my research paper, I would like to use the comparison in my introduction part. This article shows the different goal agreement between two generations. So it can support my opinion that the high rate conflict between children and parents.

3.Gross, Kate. "Conflict resolution in parent-adolescent relationships and adolescent delinquency." Youth Studies Australia June 2009: 59. Academic OneFile. Web. 8 Nov. 2009. .

In this article, the author had talked about the adolescents’ delinquency. The analyses indicated that specific combinations of adolescent-parent conflict resolution styles were associated with adolescent delinquency.

In my research paper, I would like to use it as an outcome of the parent-child conflicts. Adolescents’ delinquency, to some extent, result from the adolescent-parent conflict.

4."Tips for Parents: Teaching Children to Resolve Conflicts." PR Newswire 10 Sept. 2007. Academic OneFile. Web. 8 Nov. 2009. .

In this article, the author talked about how to avoid parent-child conflicts. It is important to establish and maintain a home environment where conflict is handled in a healthy manner, so children learn to use effective communication tools and develop self-control.

I would like to use it at the end of my research paper. Both the parents and children should do something to build up a harmony family atmosphere.

5.Fulkerson, Jayne A., Dianne Neumark-Sztainer, and Mary Story. "Adolescent and parent views of family meals." Journal of the American Dietetic Association 106.4 (2006): 526+. Academic OneFile. Web. 8 Nov. 2009. .

The author used a survey shows that different kinds people’s views about family meals. It seems that “Family meals are perceived positively by both adolescents and parents. Family meals may be a useful mechanism for enhancing family togetherness, and for role modeling behaviors that parents would like their children to emulate.”

I would like to use this detailed example to support my point of view that the most important way to solve the problem of parent-child conflicts is communication.

(Boning Zhang)It's well organize with clear statement. You have good resource for each part of your paper. At first I choose the similar topic about conflict between parents and children, but it's hard to find so many information which is useful for my paper, so I gave up and changed another topic at the end. You did good job!
