I am writing down notes in the class which will benefit our essay.
1)Racial Profiling is sometimes acceptable because
- Terrorists are mostly from Middle East countries.
- Overlook("prevent terrorists from boarding an airliner can cost thousands of lives")
- Waste time(which means,"focus our attention on people who fit the "profile" of those most likely to attempt another September 11".
2) Racial Profiling is sometimes not acceptable because
-"With the better equipment and training for security personnel"
-Vigintalism(a person who tries in an unofficial way to prevent crime, or to catch and punish someone who has committed a crime)- I still do not understand this part...
-Profiling does not make a measurable difference in the preventention of crime

About "vigilantism", here is my explanation:
Vigilantism consists of self-appointed citizens taking the law into their own hands by "arresting," convicting, and punishing an accused person.
Racial profiling is the use of a person's race or ethnicity by law enforcement or security officials as a factor in deciding whether to investigate that person or engage in enforcement (search someone at an airport security checkpoint, make a traffic stop or arrest, etc).
By defintion, racial profiling is a form of racism; not so with vigilantism. Vigilantes typically attempt to conceal their identity, hence the masks and robes used by the Ku Klux Klan.
